2025 NZ Putting Tour

7 double weekends spanning across Aotearoa for a total of 14 events, each consisting of up to 4 rounds of 18 holes, with the lowest total score taking out first place.

ALL SKILLS AND AGES ARE INVITED and whether you lead the pack or trail at the back, you'll be sure to enjoy yourself in the youth, amateur or the pro category.

Amateur players compete in 2 rounds, whereas pro will be challenged to 4 rounds.

Ties for the event are resolved with "sudden death" - tied players play face-to-face to putt the lowest score on a hole until the person with the lowest stroke count is left.

Points

Players are awarded points based on their rank at the end of each event.

The year's total is calculated on the best (most points) 9 events to provide a little leeway skip some of the events (because you know, minigolf for life, but life happens).

Points are distributed between players before any tie-breaks.  Players sharing the same position take the average of the tied ranks - e.g. if two people finish 1st equal, each will receive half of 1st (50) and 2nd rank points (40) combined: 45 points (half of 50+40)

Rank 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th - 15th 16th+
Points 50 40 34 28 25 22 19 16 13 10 7 5

Rules

  • Tee-off within the marked areas. If unmarked, tee-off is at maximum, one club shaft length from the start of each hole
  • The ball can be relocated 20cm away from walls and obstacles, as long as this doesn't give line of sight to the hole if it wasn't there before.
  • If the ball leaves the green, return it to the point where it left and re-position using the rule above (no penalty shot awarded)

Rules will be reiterated during the briefing before the start of play, along with any exceptions due to course conditions or otherwise.  The complete New Zealand Minigolf Federation rules are available here.

Amateur/Pro Season Selection Policy

This year, we are introducing a "division policy" that is designed to create a fair and consistent playing environment for all participants. By encouraging players to thoughtfully choose their division early in the season (calendar year), we can minimise confusion during events and ensure that everyone understands where they stand within the competition.

  1. Players choose either amateur or pro division when registering for their first mini golf event of the year.
  2. Players may change their division until they attend their third event of the year.
  3. Players are allowed to change once per year. Once switched, they will remain in their chosen division for the remainder of the year.
  4. Points earned are not transferrable between divisions.
  5. Organisers may review division placements in cases of special exceptions (e.g., injuries or extraordinary circumstances) or if there is suspicion of abuse or unfair play due to division choice.

World Adventure Golf Tour 2025

We're excited to announce that this year's Putting Tour game at Pro Drive doubles as a new World Adventure Golf Tour (WAGT) event. Pro players will not only be playing 4 rounds for their leaderboard points, but also for entry to the World Adventure Golf Tour final! The event will be live-streamed with commentary.

NZMGF's 100th event

Not only does 2025 mark 10 years of the New Zealand Mini Golf Federation, but our 10th event in the putting tour is also our 100th event ever!

Right after conclusion of the 4 putting tour rounds, we'll be playing another round to celebrate this milestone.

More information coming soon!
